Apparently it was nice enough out last year on this day for 1) Riley to read a book on the back deck, and 2) for me to do a semi-long exposure on that same deck later.

You get this today because I'm lazy! :)

Today we went to Seattle for the first time in a while. I love going to Seattle, but we don't do it hardly ever. We decided to catch an early showing of the movie Tangled (loved it!) at Pacific Place. After the show, we had lunch at a place called Mexico, and I shot this with the phone on our way back to the parking garage. Riley was marching for some reason and cracking the girls up.

It was a fun day, despite paying $18!! to park. :(

Found a pair of fleece gloves at Kelsey Creek Park today. They were frozen stiff. It's cold here!

Tonight we had a Family Date Night. We went out for pho, then to Barnes & Noble in downtown Bellevue for some browsing and hanging out. Riley grabbed a book and started checking it out in his ridiculous orange hat. But by ridiculous, I mean super cute.

We got the kids some books (Harry Potter 2 for Hay, a book called Stink something or other for Rye) and they read them all the way home.

Reading is great!

One more oldie from 2003, when Haley got a haircut from Auntie Rachel.

I'll dust off the camera tomorrow. I promise.

This wasn't taken last year. Or the year before that. Oh, no. This was taken 8 years ago. I was a mere 31 years old, Marci was, well, around that, and little ol' Haley was not even a year.

In other words, I didn't take any pictures today. :)

Shot this last year on a nice day when we went selling Girl Scout cookies. Haley is selling them on the street and I was testing out the range on a 70-210mm lens I had.

This is the amp I recorded on all weekend, a little vintage Ampeg flip-top. I played my red Lakland through it and I am very happy with the sound we got.

We took the kids to the Spaghetti Factory tonight. I took a picture of their chandelier using some vignette app on my phone. You're welcome.

Took photos of kids at my old high school tonight for a friend. At the end of the night, I asked the kids to guess when I graduated. They were wrong in their one guess. I told them I graduated in 1990, then practically crashed my car off the road when I realized that none of them were even born yet when I graduated.

:(

This is the new commons area. The school was demolished and rebuilt a few years ago. Pretty spiffy.

This is a spring/wheel that used to be attached to our garage door. That thing broke a long time ago. In an unrelated incident, that door currently isn't working at all, but replacements for it and the other door (behind my car) are on the way. Hopefully we'll have functional doors very soon.

A bit confused. The EXIF on this shot of my old bike shows 2/13/2010, which is what I wanted since I was lazy and didn't shoot anything today. However, my incredible filing system shows I placed this photo in a folder entitled 2010/3/14. Hmm.

Oh well, you get it for today.

It was super windy and nasty today. Luckily I was able to get outside beore it got gross and did some yardwork. Haley and Bella were kind enough to join me.

With some of the $$ Haley got for Chinese New Year, she bought an American Girl teddy bear sewing kit.

She's shown some interest in sewing before and we thought this might be cool for her.

Come last Sunday, she decided to bust it out. And, man, it was anything but easy. I mean, I took Home Ec. in 7th grade, and I don't recall flunking, but this sewing thing? Failure.

Luckily, Haley was in a terrible mood and that made things even more awesome.

However, after Monday and as the week wore on, she'd sneak off and sew and work on this bear.

Lo and behold, I got home yesterday and the bear was done! I helped her thread the needle a few times, but she did the other 99.9% of the sewing.

Bravo!

Today was sunny and cold, but not cold enough to keep the kids from chalk drawing outside.

From left to right, we have Riley, Haley and their friend, Cameron's portraits.

Everyone was having fun until my mean old neighbor told the kids to not draw in front of his house as he said it wasn't going to rain the next few days and he didn't want the street to be all colored in chalk.

What a grump. I told the kids we were going to TP his house tonight.

I got switched to to the late lunch where there's always extra of what you don't want and none of what you do. After I ate, I wanted a slice of poundcake. There was none. Because it was all in the garbage.

So much for being green. I hope they at least compost it.

It's a hallway in a building where we had an appointment today. In other words, I had nothing worthwhile in the archives and I didn't shoot anything else interesting today. I even went back to 2003 in the archives; no pictures shot on this day other than last year's 36/365 entry.

Today I went to a new dentist for the first time since I was born. Actually, it'd be the second time as I've been going to the same dentist since I was 5 or so.

Anyway, I switched because my old dentist wasn't on our provider's plan, so off he went.

Since I was a new patient, tons of x-rays were taken by Robin, a lovely blonde dental hygienist that was totally pleasant and friendly.

That is, until it was cleaning time.

Apparently these days, dental hygienists use what she called a "pressure washer" style device to clean your teeth at first.

Pressure washer? More like needles in the gums!

After that, it was the dreaded scraping. You know what I'm talking about. As if the pressure washing wasn't bad enough, the scraping (and the NOISE!) went on and on and was equally as uncomfortable. I think she may have used a rusty nail for this. And, though I didn't see them, I'm pretty sure she had the strongest hands of any woman I know. Wow. Look out for that handshake.

Finally we got to the old-fashioned polishing portion with what tasted like fruit flavored sand. I remember this well from the good ol' days and today, this was the least of all the tortures.

At the end of it all, I got the obligatory free toothbrush (pictured), floss (Glide FTW!) and toothpaste. Yay me.

Oh yeah, I also got 3 damn cavities to get filled.

Sigh.

I introduced Haley and Riley to the wonders of Choose Your Own Adventure books recently. I think it's safe to say that Riley likes them.
